The React19 Podcast

Kim Witczak | From Tragedy to FDA Drug Safety Advocate

Episode Notes

“I actually thought the FDA would care how a guy went from not sleeping to hanging in five weeks, but they said it was just an anecdotal story.”

In this episode of the React 19 podcast, Ann interviews drug safety advocate Kim Witczak. Kim is a Consumer Representative on the FDA’s Psychopharmacologic Drug Advisory Committee.

Kim shares her personal story of loss after her husband’s suicide following a Zoloft prescription, which led her to campaign for antidepressant safety reforms, including getting black box warnings on anti-depressants.

She draws parallels between her advocacy and current challenges faced by those injured by COVID-19 vaccines, highlighting systemic issues within the FDA, lack of transparency, and the need for informed consent.

Kim’s ultimate message is one of hope and empowerment. Her maxim is: “Within us all is the power to create change.”
