In this React19 podcast episode, former United States Army chaplain James Link and his wife, Faye, share their experience following James’s mandated COVID-19 vaccination during deployment, which led to life-threatening heart complications. Their story is a powerful and sobering look at the human cost of vaccine injury, institutional denial, and the resilience required to keep moving forward.
They open up about the challenges they faced—from stigma within the military and lack of support, to bureaucratic obstacles and financial hardship—while also highlighting the strength they found through faith, community, and advocacy.
Today, through their work with React19’s Military Chapter, they are committed to helping other injured service members navigate these challenges. Injured military members may also be eligible to apply to the React19 Care Fund, which offers grants of up to $10,000 to help with medical needs.
Faye is also launching a support group specifically for caregivers, recognizing the unique burdens they carry and the need for connection and encouragement.
If you or someone you know is struggling with vaccine injury—especially within the military—know that you are not alone. Reach out, connect, and keep fighting for recognition and support. Your voice matters, and together, change is possible.
